Not to be outdone by the fitness industry and its range of wearable tech products, we are asking if the recruitment industry will soon be awash with these – Head-Hunters.
The Head-Hunter is a wearable head band containing a wi-fi enabled chip which allows recruiters to monitor the brain waves of candidates during video and skype interviews. With more and more interviews being conducted remotely, a way of capturing candidates’ emotional and neurological reactions to questions has been developed. The inventor of the Head-Hunter, Dr A. Foule reports pre-orders into the hundreds.
Dr Foule says “The Head-Hunter allows recruiters to catch those subtle details present in face-to-face interviews which would go un-noticed in video interviews.” She adds “The time is ripe for technology to play a bigger part in the recruitment process.”
The data from the Head-Hunter can be used to determine a range of factors, including finding out the candidate’s Meyers-Briggs personality type, how likely they are to be lying during the interview, and whether the candidate genuinely likes the interviewer or is faking it.
The Head-Hunter is still in beta-testing, but a soft-launch date of April 1st 2016 has been announced.
Jean Wing-Hing of 4 Leisure Recruitment says “Wearable tech is good, but does it have a place in recruitment? We are always open to new methods and ideas, but think there’s no substitute for a proper chat with a potential candidate and robust background checks.”
He added “Besides, it makes the candidate look like an idiot, and that’s not a good look for someone trying to put themselves across as a professional.”
